S3 - on off bug!!

The samsung galaxy S3 has this wierd behavior where the screen turns on at periodic intervals!

Solution

When ur S3 screen lights up periodically,
it's an app is trying to connect to the internet for update or any thing (really drains the battery!!)
Try using an app-killer to kill the apps in the back-ground, if the problem still persists,
turn on ur wi-fi or 3G to complete the update to solve the issue!

AutoSMS Smart

This is my second app that I ve managed to release in the android market in the past one month. So wats this app all about???

Simple... send out SMS when u are uynable to attend calls... But there are atleat 20 other apps that does the same thing!!?#$

So y did i go about doing this app or wat are distinguishing features : 

• It is the only app that works on HTC wildfire (that's the fone i ve got...so its basically a personnal need that made me start this app)
• Reduced Battery consumption

• Emergency feature(useful for guys with gal friends)

Internet connection too slow???

Is our internet connection too slow??? There is a good possibility that ur wi-fi is turned on and someone else is using it!!!

So how to shut them off from preventing using your connection???

Every computer is identified in a network through its MAC address. There is something called MAC filtering which allows only specific MAC addresses to be a part of your network!!! So how do we do this??

First of all find the mac address fo ur pc:

• goto command prompt
• type getmac to get ur mac address

Find out the default gateway of ur router: for eg : its 192.168.1.1 ~ username and password ~ admin

Just complete the following steps : U might find exactly same or similar sounding options which u need to tweak :

• Goto Device info
• DHCP leases – u can find the list of connected devices – this ll tell u who else is a part of ur network
• Note down that mac address too
• Now select Wireless option ->MAC filter
• Use allow or deny mode
• Allow mode -> Type ur mac address ~ This is safer but it prevents ur mobile from being a part of the network
• Deny mode -> Type the mac address of the neighbour to cut him off from ur network. This ll allow all other devices to be a part of the network. This is ill adviced because if your neighbour is smart enough he can still be a part of ur network my spofing his MAC id!!!

There’s a flip side to this method. Just as you can shut your neighbour off ur, neighbour can do just the same to you . In that case you will be denied to log into the default gateway of ur router. But not a problem really as u ll be denied access only in the wifi. So connect ur laptop via ethernet and do the changes as mentioned before 

Gmail Roxxxx!!!

Most of us own a gmail id…But do v all make use of several features that are available there…If u ve it fine, if not u ll know y this post is named this way!!!

• How often do v leave an important .doc file in our mail do’t get to access the internet when v need it the most(happens quite often in India  ). That’s where the offline feature of gmail is brilliant. Activating this feature synchronizes ur gmail account on the desktop and allows u to access ur account even when offline. Do activate this feature now

Gmail->Settings->offline->enable

• Got more than one gmail account for watever reason. Bored of signing out and signing in again??? U can forward all the mails from various accounts to a single one. This is how u do it

Gmail->Settings->Forwarding POP/IMAP->Forwarding

• Out of station ?? Can’t access ur mail?? Set the vacation responder on. This ll automatically respond to those who mail you regarding ur unavailability

Gmail->Settings->General->Vacation reponder

• Labs ~ There are several add ons that are available here. Do check them out and activate the one’s u want

Firefox add ons

People use different browsers of their choice…Some use chrome, some firefox, some opera, few IE  But its basically chrome and the firefox that bulk of the internet users around the world. I am a huge fan of chrome because of  how “light” it is !!! But one thing that probably helps firefox score over chrome is the add ons that are available for firefox. Some of them are just brilliant. r u downloading the right torrent???

How often do v end up downloading the wrong torrent file?? Quite often actually…

After much googleing i probably wud suggest this way to check if u r downloading the right in case of media files.

• Download Utorrent – http://www.utorrent.com/
• Goto ->Options->Preferences->Advanced->bt.prio_first_last_piece
• Change its attribute to True

This would ensure that the first piece of the main file gets downloaded in the beginning. So when the download is completed upto 5 to 6% u can play the partially downloaded file. This does not ensure 100% chance of downloading the right torrent but certainly increases its chance though!!!

Invisible ???

We are quite often faced with a friend hiding in invisible mode in messenger service in various messenger services. We also have ways to find the ones that are hiding i invisible mode. I mention ways to check this in Yahoo messenegr and Gtalk!!!

In Yahoo messenger it is very simple, there are a lot of softwares available. The one that is easiest to work with is buddy check :

In Gtalk there are no softwares available as such, but manipulating a few setting changes ll do the trick 

• click  against the user u wish to check the visibility mode
• in the new window of the user, use the drop down to select an option “go off the record”
• now type something say, “der?”
• if u get the red colored message saying the person is currently offline, the user is really away

if u don’t get an error msg, u ve caught ur friend on the wrong foot here
